CALLING ASPIRING PLAYWRIGHTS!
The SacTown Play Festival has been created to support aspiring playwrights.
The competition has been designed with the goal to inspire, educate and nurture artists and our community towards a thoughtful and humane world view through the art of story-telling.
We desire to help theatre artists find their voices, cultivate social consciousness and prepare for a lasting career. We support new AND established playwrights and incubate new plays.
We seek to make a lasting, life-long impression on our community – inspiring the audience to continue provocative conversations long after the curtain closes.
Festival participants (Playwrights) will be chosen based on script creativity, characterization, and staging potential. The festival will feature 1-Act plays (must be 10 to 15 minutes long) written by aspiring playwrights.
While the Festival takes place in Sacramento, California, Playwrights DO NOT have to be local to submit their scripts. However, these must be brand new works that have not been performed before.
Finalists
Each playwright finalist (i.e. those whose scripts are chosen to perform at the Festival at a TBA Date and Time) will have their scripts staged by a local director for performance at the festival.
FREE Playwriting Workshop!
Are you interested in submitting a play for the SacTown Play Festival, but aren’t sure how to start? Maybe you have writing experience, but would like some input on plot, dialogue, and character development?
FreeFall Stage is offering a FREE playwriting workshop on February 22, 2025 from 9am to 12pm at EPIC Bible College (4330 Auburn Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95841).
